Carter Clean Up is a citizen movement started to clean up Mumbai’s Carter Road beach. The movement is supported by Ek Saath - The Earth Foundation as the NGO Partner. Founded on 24th June, 2021, the movement believes in minimising the plastic footprint, so that we can enjoy mother nature in her most natural form.
Carter Clean Up has five core members: Harold Fernandes, Ashwin Malwade, Nupur Agarwal, Freishia B and Maansi Ahuja. Ek Saath- The Earth Foundation is the NGO partner for Carter Cleanup. Mr. Harold Fernandes started cleaning the Carter Road beach during the lockdown. He would clean the beach and adjoining mangroves nearly everyday. Inspired by his work, Carter Clean Up was founded. So far, nearly 35000 kgs of illegal construction debris and 55000 kgs of marine waste has been cleared from the beach and the surrounding mangroves.
Carter Clean Up received the Spotlightee 2023 Award at The Sanctuary Wildlife Awards from Sanctuary Asia and were also recognised by the Indian Coast Guard on their 48th Raising Day.
