About the Class

Our phonics program is designed to help children become confident readers by building strong foundations in letter sounds, pronunciation, blending, and comprehension. The curriculum follows a structured, step-by-step approach, ensuring children progress at their own pace while developing accuracy, fluency, and confidence in reading.

Level 1: Beginner Phonics

This level focuses on developing sound awareness and early reading readiness. Children are introduced to alphabet sounds, phonemic awareness, and basic blending skills. Through interactive activities, songs, stories, and worksheets, learners begin reading simple CVC words and recognising common sight words.
Outcome: Comfort with letter sounds, early decoding skills, and confidence to start reading independently.

Level 2- Intermediate Phonics

At this stage, children strengthen and expand their reading skills. The focus shifts to blending and segmenting longer words, learning consonant blends, digraphs (sh, ch, th), short and long vowel sounds, and improved word recognition. Sentence reading and spelling patterns are introduced gradually.
Outcome: Improved reading accuracy, better pronunciation, and growing fluency with simple sentences.

Level 3 - Advanced Phonics

This level prepares children for fluent and confident reading. Learners work on advanced blending, word families, tricky words, spelling rules, and sentence construction. Reading comprehension strategies, expression, and reading fluency are emphasized through guided reading and practice.
Outcome: Strong reading fluency, better comprehension, and readiness for independent reading and academic learning.
