Welcome to the Young Performers Studio!
Somewhere between a stomping giant and a tiptoeing mouse, your child will find their voice this week. Hamleys Play and Mala Joshi bring to you a week-long experience of joyful, guided theatre where every child finds their own way to own the stage.
Every session includes 1 hour of guided theatre with Mala Joshi followed by 1 hour of free play at Hamleys Play, with all activity materials thoughtfully included- because great learning deserves a great celebration!
How the Week Unfolds
- Session 1 — What is Language? Communication Before Words: Children explore body, face, gesture, and voice through games, the no-words challenge, face emotions, statue talking, and expressing feelings through sound alone.
- Session 2 — The Magic of the Body — Movement & Space: Through the Invisible Objects game like lifting a heavy box, a light feather, a long rope, a tiny ant, children discover just how much a body can say.
- Session 3 — The Magic of Voice — Sound, Tone & Feelings: Children say 'Hello' as scared, excited, angry, and sleepy, then come together to create a jungle soundscape using nothing but their voices.
- Session 4 — Bringing a Story to Life: Children act out a simple story, first silently through movement and expression, then layering in sounds and simple lines.
- Session 5 — Mini Performance Day: The curtain goes up! Children rehearse their story, add entry and exit movements, strike their freeze poses, and perform for a real audience!
What Your Child Will Take Away
Five sessions of playing, expressing, and performing, and your child walks away with far more than stage experience. Expressive body language, voice and intonation control, the confidence to speak and be seen, and a deep sense of I can that stays long after the curtain falls.
